On page A2 of yesterday's (Schenectady) Daily Gazette was an article talking about an incident that took place at Reagan Airport in Washington. The incident involved an Air Traffic Controller who was working solo at the airport, who was found to have fallen alseep, leaving landing aircraft to fend for themselves. Luckily, two aircraft who were trying to reach him did, indeed, land safely.

I am the proud new owner of an Asus EEE netbook computer. I really am liking the little bugger, but I have found a small problem with it. The problem is not so much that it lacks an optical disc drive (i.e. one that takes CD, DVD and/or Blu-Ray as it is that one is actually still needed in this day and age.

Blogcast.fm is reporting that a massive number of GoDaddy blogs have been hacked with a particularly stealthy set of malware. The other day, I was talking to a coworker about music, specifically something he believes to be true (and I have not moved to confirm or debunk), that Disco was generally 132 beats per minute, in order to facilitate blending, because variable-speed turntables were hard to come by in the 70's. That lead to a discussion of turntables, including my mentioning that I still have and use one.

I have always said that I would not ever own a video game console. My wife has said likewise. So why is there now a Wii sitting under our TV?

This past weekend, I attended (and, indeed, was part of the planning and execution of) the Toastmasters District 53 fall conference in Saratoga Springs, NY. As you might expect from such a gathering, you find a large number of people who are dynamic speakers and leaders, and who are not afraid to speak their minds on any topic.
